| Welcome to Tongwynlais Primary School |

Welcome to Tongwynlais Primary School - Croeso i Ysgol Gynradd Tongwynlais
A message from the head.
We are very pleased to welcome parents and pupils to Tongwynlais Primary School, a school where we have high expectations of children and where we do our best to ensure that they are happy and enjoy their time in school.
We recognise that every child has different skills and talents and we work hard to ensure that every pupil reaches their potential and develops into a well- equipped learner.
We also support our pupils in developing confidence and patience, determination, tolerance and inter-personal skills to help them to succeed not only in school but beyond into adult life in an ever changing world.
Our School motto is ‘Llwyddiant I Bawb- Success for All!’ In order for us to achieve this for pupils and staff alike we are constantly reviewing everything we do in school to ensure we continue to offer the best quality of education possible.
Gwneud Rydym yn falch iawn i groesawu rhieni a disgyblion i Ysgol Gynradd Tongwynlais, gennym mae ysgol lle ddisgwyliadau blant o uchel a rydym yn ble ein hapus i gorau eu sicrhau yn bod ac yn mwynhau eu hamser yn yr ysgol.

Much of this work was documented within the recent report published by ESTYN.
Everyone associated with our school shares our pleasure and our pride in the way that inspectors recognised Tongwynlais as a thriving community;
“Tongwynlais Primary School is a successful school with outstanding features. It is very well led.” ESTYN 24 April 2006
We are especially pleased by the praise given to the children. Inspectors described them as ;
“Pupils’ behaviour is very positive and their attitudes to learning have some outstanding features. Pupils are conscientious, considerate and get on well together and with adults. They make very good progress in the development of their personal and social skills. They show real care and concern for each other.”
Pupils “have very positive attitudes to learning, are most interested in their work and demonstrate a high level of concentration”
We are delighted too by the recognition offered to the teachers. With teaching being recognised as ‘good with outstanding’ features throughout the school.
As a school we are not complacent; already pupils, parents, governors and staff continue to move forward together, confident and proud of their achievements to date and with clear ideas about where further improvements can be made.
Our success starts with the children and the families we serve, extending to all adults who work for our school:
Our pupils are confident learners who believe in themselves, recognising and harnessing the support of their parents and teachers.
Governors share a vision and a clear alignment of values, beliefs and attitudes. Teachers and teaching assistants work in partnership to create a climate of learning, supportive relationships and a stimulating learning environment. This will continue to develop over the forthcoming years.
Working in partnership with parents, we aim to offer wide-ranging opportunities to further children's academic, personal and social development. We try to find wherever possible, to involve you as parents in the life and work of the school and to keep you well informed about your child’s progress.
Our school is truly a community school. We have close links with churches and organisations within the village and the school is very much at the heart of village life.
You are always welcome in school to discuss particular concerns and problems. If you wish to see the class teacher, you may be able to do this informally at the end of the school day. Otherwise I would ask you to arrange an appointment by telephoning the School Administrator, Mrs. Lesley Baker. If you wish to speak with me, you are warmly invited to school to make an appointment.
We hope that you and your children will enjoy your time as a member of our school community.
